This app is designed for parents to monitor and protect their child's phone usage. In order to use this app, you must also install a separate app on your child's phone. If you install this app first, you will be guided on how to download the child phone app from the relevant app store for your child's iPhone or Android phone.
With the MMGuardian Parental Control Child app installed on your child's Android phone, you will be able to receive alerts when your child's text messages, certain social media chat messages, or web searches are indicative of potentially harmful behaviors such as drug use, sexting, cyberbullying, child grooming, violence, and suicidal thoughts.
The app allows you to monitor and block various activities on your child's phone, including SMS text messages, web browsing, application usage, and phone calls. It also monitors chat messages from popular social media platforms like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Instagram, Kik, TikTok, and Discord, and sends alerts if the content appears to relate to one of nine special categories, such as sexting, cyberbullying, and suicidal thoughts.
Some additional functions of the app include the ability to locate your child's phone, quickly lock or unlock it, and set limits for screen time, app usage, and web filtering. Both your phone and your child's phone must be registered using the same email address. It is also important for both phones to have network data capability, as the app uses data to send and receive configuration commands, reports, and alerts.
The app offers a free 14-day trial period for the child's phone. After the trial ends, the premium functions on the child's app will be disabled unless the app is licensed or has an ongoing subscription. However, you can still use the app to locate your child's phone remotely.
Subscriptions can be purchased for the MMGuardian Parental Control app on your child's phone through this parent app. The cost is $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year for one child phone. Family plans for up to five child devices are also available at twice these amounts.
It is encouraged for parents to discuss the reasons for using a parental control app with their children, including to protect them from potential risks of their own actions and the actions of others, such as excessive screen time, cyberbullying, and sexting.
