Ghost Commander File Manager

The user interface of this application is designed to make it easy for users to copy and move files from one panel to another. The display is kept simple by using two zones for file selection - tapping on the left opens files and folders, while tapping on the right selects multiple items. For left-handed users, this can be swapped in the settings.

Ghost Commander is a versatile file manager that supports FTP and SFTP servers, Windows network shares, and cloud storage services like Google Drive, BOX, and Dropbox (with plugins). It also has the ability to create and extract encrypted ZIP archives and work with them as if they were regular folders. For advanced users, the file manager offers root (superuser) mode, which is necessary for working with protected system files on rooted devices.

This file manager is highly customizable, with a variety of options to adjust its appearance and behavior according to personal preferences. Some of its features include easy sorting by name, extension, size, or date; customizable multiselect; the ability to change file owner and permissions (in root mode only); and support for ZIP archives, FTP clients, and favorite shortcuts for folders and locations.

Other features of Ghost Commander include the ability to calculate file and folder size and MD5 and SHA-1, search for files by content and other properties, and view text and pictures. It also allows for sending files via email, Bluetooth, and other methods, and offers personalization options such as custom colors, font size, and interface language. The file manager also supports Windows network (SMB) and streaming audio/video from a remote location to a player app.

The application requests certain permissions in order to function properly, such as MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE to access and manage the device file system, INTERNET to connect to servers for FTP and other network plugins, and WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE to copy files to the SD card. Other permissions include ACCESS_WIFI_STATE to prevent the WiFi from going down during a file transfer, WAKE_LOCK to prevent the phone from going into deep sleep during a transfer, VIBRATE to notify the user when a long file operation is complete, and INSTALL_SHORTCUT to create shortcut icons on the desktop. The ACCESS_SUPERUSER permission is only used for the root mode of the file manager and is not used for any other purposes.
